INFORMATION FOR PARENTS

International Parents have a challenge to keep in touch with their son or daughter from a distance. Parents of new international students who are attending the Explore Campus and Community Program are invited to come to campus at the same time as their son or daughter and participate in the Explore Parent Program. This program will give you the opportunity to meet with campus administrators, other parents and to learn more about Washington University and the city of St. Louis.
The Explore Parent Program runs from Thursday, August 16 - Saturday, August 18.

Accommodations
The Charles F. Knight Executive Education & Conference Center is located on the Danforth Campus of Washington University and has 66 guest rooms. If you make a reservation early, you should be able to book a room at this location. You can make reservations online or by phone at 866-933-9400. There is a special room rate available to parents of WashU students, so be sure to mention this when you’re making your reservation.
If rooms at the Knight Center are not available, or if you prefer to stay elsewhere, there are many other options near campus. Visit Explore St. Louis' website for a list of hotel options. You’ll want to search in the "Midtown/Clayton" region for hotels near Washington University’s Danforth Campus.
Transportation
It is recommended that you rent a vehicle for your stay in St. Louis. Information on obtaining a rental vehicle can also be found on the Explore St. Louis website. Be sure to select "St Louis, MO (STL)" as your airport location.
St. Louis does have a public transportation system that includes Metro Link light rail and Metro Bus, that can get you to many of the most popular destinations in the city. However, you will likely find it more useful to have a rental vehicle at your disposal.
Parent and Family Orientation
In addition to the Explore Parent Program, there is a general program open to the parents of all incoming students, called Parent & Family Orientation.
